Style Inspired: Grammys Best Dressed

Talk about an event-filled Sunday! With shows coming back, Prabal Gurung's Target line getting released, fashion week going on, and the Grammys airing at night, yesterday was filled with ways to close out the weekend. After mixing my day off with a little bit of everything, I ended the night plopped in front of the tv while the Grammys (and red carpet) aired.

The Grammys are my favorite awards show because of the amount of musical performances and the fun red carpet looks. Musicians are so creative, I look forward to seeing how they transform that freedom of expression into their wardrobe each year. Even with the memo to stay mishap-free, I was hoping to see a few daring looks from artists. Much to my surprise, it seemed like 90% of the attendees wore safe black gowns. There were three looks that made the red carpet for me. I liked them so much, I got inspired to create wearable outfits using the color scheme of each look as a starting point. My top three best-dressed attendees were:

1. Rihanna - I adored every look Rihanna wore last night, but my favorite was her red carpet gown. We may not be able to wear custom Azzedine Alaia while out shopping on an average day, but her bold red dress makes for flirty inspiration:

2. Katy Perry - Katy's Gucci gown was a total shocker for me last night. I've grown quite used to her unpredictably quirky style, and seeing her in a toned down dress that wasn't black like everyone else's was a welcome surprise. Seafoam is everywhere this season, so embrace it a la Katy Perry!

3. Beyonce - Another surprise look came from Beyonce's Osman jumpsuit. I pictured her walking the red carpet with her signature waves and a fierce gown, but the pantsuit was a definite plot twist. Combining black and white was a big trend during the SS2013 fashion shows, and Beyonce proved that it's possible to wear black yet still stand out.

Who were your best dressed looks of the night? Did you catch the show?

Sidenote: Just because I've been a fan since the N*Sync cassette days (fun fact: Britney's 'Baby One More Time' album was my very first cd), here's a little Justin Timberlake appreciation. He's finally doing what he does best, and his performance was free of flaws. Watch it here if you missed it.

Thanks for the feedback on my post dear! :)
Rihanna was horrible in my opinion. For her album release, it would have been a great choice but it really wasn't Grammy appropriate at all. Wondering if she wore any panties at all haha!

Kelly Rowland rocked the carpet though! x

Aw I loved her dress! I know a lot of people liked Kelly's as well, but I thought there was too much skin peeking through for hers =/

Oh, don't get me wrong - that dress is gorgeous! I just didn't think it was the right choice for Rihanna or the Grammys :) x

I love the black and white ensemble. It seems like that's an incoming trend (with stripes) this year.
